This fabulous Obelisk was made for the Grand Tour in early 19th century Paris. The bronze is covered in hieroglyphic tributes to the pharaoh Ramses II. It stands on a square marble base. Would make a great desk or Library piece. This is a souvenir which marking the arrival in Paris of the Luxor Obelisk. The Obelisk (French, Obélisque de Louxor) is a 23 metre (75 ft) high Egyptian obelisk now standing at the center of the Place de la Concorde in Paris, France. It was originally located at the entrance to Luxor Temple, in Egypt but it was moved to Paris in 1833. Overall condition is very good. There are two tiny losses on the railings and the marble base has some minor nibbles on the edges. The bronze Obelisk itself is in very good condition. Overall condition commensurate with age getting on for 200 years.
